The Lazord Fellowship Program

The Lazord Fellowship is a program that provides recent graduates with professional and civic skills through year-long job placements, mentoring, and training by local partners.

Fellows will

  • Be hosted for one year in a local non-profit or for-profit organization (four days a week)
  • Receive a living stipend (based on local living costs)
  • Be offered a minimum of 18 training sessions by influential civil society leaders and professional trainers on an array of topics pertaining to civil society, management, leadership, team building, management skills, and much more
  • Receive monthly mentoring sessions with professional mentors with civil society experience
  • Have networking opportunities with professionals and influential individuals from all sectors – both local and international
  • Attend the annual opening and closing of International Conferences* with the regional cohort of fellows from all three countries
  • Receive health Insurance
  • Receive a monthly housing allowance or accommodation for fellows not based in Cairo 

 

Eligibility

  • Having graduated in 2024 or after
  • Ready to commit to a one-year full-time fellowship starting September 2026
  • Availability to attend the annual international conference planned in October 2026

Unfortunately, the eligibility criteria for the Lazord Fellowship require fresh graduates who graduated in 2023 or later. However, the Gerhart Center offers other programs that might suit you. (Follow our social media platforms for all updates).

We only accept applicants that will receive their graduation transcript/certificate/results before the July 7. If you will receive your results by then, you can apply. If not, you are very welcome to apply next year.

All Egyptian male applicants must identify their military service status, whether it is completion or exemption.

No, the fellowship is a one-year full commitment, which includes job placement and weekly training sessions.

Egyptians can apply for the fellowship here in Egypt.

You will be required to provide documentation verifying your residency and a copy of your passport.

We handle applications on an annual basis. To be considered for future cohorts, you must submit a new application form.

The fellowship begins with an orientation session in mid-August 2025 for all new fellows. The fellowship ends in October 2026, followed by a graduation ceremony in December 2026 or January 2027

The fellowship placement usually starts in October, and you will have to get excused from your work/internship for some days off during August and September to receive your local fellowship orientation and start your matching process.

The financial package will be shared with selected fellows in their orientation session. 

We usually receive a great number of applications, so it would be impossible to send our feedback and comments to each applicant separately> However, you will receive general tips and recommendations that might be helpful for applying next year.
