Marking a significant pedagogical shift, this collaboration positions the Qalaa Financial Services Lab as a fully integrated teaching and research environment capable of supporting a broader range of courses and programs including topics such as: corporate finance, investments, ESG analysis.
General Access Guidelines
All current faculty members, students, research assistants, teaching assistants, and staff are welcome to create a Bloomberg login and use the terminals available in the lab.
- Terminal access is identical for all users; there is no functional difference at the terminal
level based on user role. - Bloomberg terminal logins must always be created in the lab.
- An online booking system/webpage will be available soon to make lab access faster and
more efficient. - Students: Must access the education portal and the terminal on the lab.
- Professors: Must access the terminal on the lab, can access the education portal remotely (after providing professor verification to their profiles).
- Research Assistants: Must access the terminal on the lab, can access the portal remotely (if able to provide proof/verification of their assistantship when creating their profiles; similar to professors).

- Yes, research assistants can create a Bloomberg Terminal login in the lab.
- After creating the login, they can run BCER on the terminal to create an account on the Bloomberg for Education Portal and enroll in certificates such as the BMC.
- All terminal logins must be created in the lab.
- With the current licensing, access to the Bloomberg for Education Portal must also initially be created via the lab.
- During account creation, users choose either a Professor or Student account type.
- If a Professor account is selected, proof of faculty or researcher status (such as a LinkedIn profile or an official university faculty page) is required for manual verification by Bloomberg.
- Once verified, professors and approved researchers may access the Education Portal remotely.
- Students, however, must continue to access the Education Portal from the lab only.
- Faculty members can complete the entire BMC remotely from their own laptops.
- Students must complete the full BMC (including all modules and examinations) while logged in from the lab.
- Yes. Teaching support materials, including case studies, are available through the Bloomberg for Education Portal, and faculty members can access them remotely.
