A2K4D Hosts the Inaugural Responsible AI Cup Awards Ceremony
The Access to Knowledge for Development (A2K4D) Center at Onsi Sawiris School of Business hosted the inaugural Responsible AI (RAI) Cup Awards Ceremony on January 18, 2026.
Organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the ceremony marked the conclusion of the first edition of the Responsible AI Cup competition and coincided with the center’s celebration of 16 years of impact.
The Responsible AI Cup is an initiative of A2K4D’s flagship MENA Observatory on Responsible AI which advances responsible AI policies and practices across the region. Launched in October 2025, the competition was the first in Egypt to target small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups developing or using AI in their technology solutions, focusing on embedding ethical and responsible AI principles.
The competition attracted 41 submissions from companies which competed over their commitment to the responsible use of AI across nine pillars which included: privacy, accountability, safety, transparency, fairness, human oversight, professional responsibility, and human values. Following a rigorous evaluation process, five finalists (Rology, Cloudilic, AgriCan, Cluster, and Zaher AI) were selected to present their pitches during the ceremony.
Grounded in capacity building and knowledge exchange, the RAI Cup aimed to incentivize responsible AI adoption while raising awareness of its ethical, legal, and environmental implications. Participants benefited from educational content, training, and opportunities to collaborate with peers, academics, and experts in the field, reinforcing the center’s role in advancing the use of AI in Egypt and the region as a whole
The event convened key stakeholders including members of A2K4D’s regional and international partners, with a panel of experts from entities including the United Nations, AUC Venture Lab, and the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).
Through A2K4D’s initiatives, Onsi Sawiris School of Business continues its mission to be a regional for advancing responsible innovation, shaping ethical AI practices, and supporting entrepreneurship aligned with inclusive and sustainable development across Egypt and the MENA region.
