Driving Strategy Execution for Measurable Results is built for the leaders accountable for that system. The program opens with a diagnostic discipline most organizations skip and builds the full execution architecture from there: translating strategic intent into a portfolio of programs and projects, designing the governance that holds execution together, and applying the performance, risk, and change disciplines that sustain it.

A defining principle of the program is that different strategies demand different execution architectures. Classical strategies can be delivered through predictive planning. Adaptive and discovery-driven strategies need something more flexible. You’ll learn to match the architecture to the strategy, not impose one method on every situation.

The curriculum is grounded in the PMI Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition.

  • Diagnose whether a strategy can be executed before committing resources, and identify the structural barriers that derail execution.

  • Translate organizational strategy into a portfolio of programs, projects, and operational initiatives aligned to strategic priorities.

  • Match the execution architecture to the strategy type, whether classical, adaptive, iterative, or hybrid.

  • Establish and position a Strategy Execution Office with the authority required to deliver results.

  • Build portfolio governance frameworks aligned with the PMI Standard for Portfolio Management.

  • Monitor portfolio performance against strategic objectives and recalibrate execution as conditions shift.

  • Manage risk at the portfolio level, including dependency analysis, strategic exposure, and portfolio reserves.

  • Engage stakeholders and sustain organizational commitment across the execution lifecycle.

  • Executives who oversee strategic portfolios
  • Heads of Strategy Execution Offices and PMOs
  • Division and department heads
  • Business leaders responsible for transformation initiatives
  • Experienced strategy, portfolio and program managers ready to expand into strategic portfolio management
Module 1: Strategy Execution  (Total 21 Hours : On-Campus 12 Hours | Online 9 Hours)

This module begins with the diagnostic discipline most organizations skip: assessing whether the organization has the capacity, capability, and readiness to execute. From there, you build the full execution system, translating strategic intent into a set of objectives/KPIs, and a portfolio of programs and projects to achieve them, designing the architecture to fit the strategy type, and applying the change leadership disciplines that sustain execution beyond the launch.

Module 2: The Strategy Execution Office (Total 9 Hours : On-Campus 6 Hours | Online 3 Hours)

This module addresses the question most organizations get wrong: who is institutionally accountable for ensuring the portfolio delivers? You’ll examine why assigning portfolio governance to the CFO, COO, or CIO creates structural conflicts of interest, what a dedicated Strategy Execution Office actually looks like, and how to design, staff, and demonstrate the value of one in your own organization.

Module 3: Governing Strategy Execution  (Total 6 Hours Online)

This module covers the structures, decision rights, and oversight mechanisms that determine how portfolio decisions get made, where authority sits, and how accountability is upheld. You’ll learn to design governance frameworks that balance disciplined oversight with the flexibility that adaptive and iterative strategies require.

Module 4: Performance Management (Total 9 Hours : On-Campus 6 Hours | Online 3 Hours)

This module builds the disciplines required to sustain that cycle: setting strategic baselines, interpreting portfolio metrics, managing deviations and escalations, and optimizing resource allocation across competing initiatives. You’ll learn to distinguish operational performance monitoring from strategic learning, and to update the portfolio roadmap as performance insights and strategic conditions shift.

Module 5: Risk Management  (Total 9 Hours Online)

This module covers how to set portfolio risk appetite, perform dependency analysis, manage cascading risks across components, and adapt the portfolio composition in response to emerging threats and opportunities.

Module 6: Communications Management  (Total 6 hours On-Campus)

This module covers stakeholder analysis, communication planning across the portfolio lifecycle, and the discipline of translating executive strategy into messages that drive understanding and commitment at every organizational level.

Module 7: Strategy Execution Plan Presentations (Total 6 hours On-Campus)

Participants present a conceptual version of their Strategy Execution Plan, a structured analysis that translates a chosen organizational strategy into an executable portfolio and evaluates the governance, risk, and change leadership requirements needed to deliver results. Participants may develop their plan based on their own organization or on a selected business case. This flexibility allows them to apply the program's frameworks in a realistic context while enabling open discussion and substantive peer learning. To encourage participation and facilitate exchange of insights, presentations focus on the analytical logic and execution design developed during the program. Sensitive organizational information may be generalized or omitted without affecting the quality of the analysis or the discussion.

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Current or upcoming accountability for strategic execution
