Healthcare systems generate vast amounts of data through electronic health records, quality registries, patient safety reporting systems and operational workflows. Yet most clinical leaders lack a structured way to turn that data into safer, higher-quality care or to lead the design and implementation of the digital tools their organizations desperately need.

Applied Health Informatics is a 30-hour hands-on program and the only one of its kind in the region that teaches healthcare professionals how to combine informatics, safety and quality improvement, and product management. This enables participants to identify clinical problems, design and test effective solutions, and champion informatics initiatives within their own institutions.

  • Master the Learning Health System Framework: Understand how data, informatics, and improvement science work together.
  • Apply Product Management to Clinical Problems: Write user stories, define minimum viable products (MVPs), understand features like health IT product owner, and manage the full product lifecycle from concept validation to
    stakeholder sign-off.
  • Use Real Safety and Quality Data: Work with adverse event reports, quality measures including those of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), as well as clinical datasets to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Build Executive-Ready Dashboards: Create safety and quality dashboards on Microsoft Power BI that drive decision making.
  • Lead Informatics Initiatives: Learn implementation science and change management to successfully deploy digital
    tools.
  • Build a Business Case for Innovation: Design a Value Proposition Canvas and Business Model Canvas (BMC) for your clinical solution, develop investor-grade financial projections, and create a pitch deck tailored for
    hospital incubators and accelerator programs.
  • Grow Your Career: Earn a credential that maps to Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Quality
Improvement Officer (CQIO), Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), and quality director roles.
  • Develop Your Unique Selling Point (USP): Stand out as a clinician or manager who can bridge clinical care and health IT.
