The Department of Accounting is to provide a world-class accounting education to serve the needs of the business community and the accounting profession. The department aims to be recognized as an innovative leader in accounting education and research, which reflect the best practices accepted internationally and with particular relevance to the Middle East and North Africa region.


The major in accounting was introduced at AUC School of Business in 1996 and later on became the Department of Accounting in 2009. The department, as it now stands, offers students the opportunity to both major and minor in accounting. Students choosing to major in accounting are required to complete 127 credit hours of course work, while students minoring in accounting are required to complete 15 credit hours.

The Bachelor of Accounting (BAC) of the AUC
School of Business has received endorsement
from the Institute of Management Accountants
(IMA).

Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA)

The Department of Accounting at AUC School of Business has received the UK-based Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) accreditation.

The department will be accredited for three years, ending in December of 2019.
