Alumni and Board Members Named Among Most Powerful Businesswomen

December 27, 2017

Alumni and Dean’s Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) members from the AUC School of Business were named on Forbes Middle East list of most powerful Arab businesswomen.

Nine women with ties to the AUC School of Business were named in the 2017 Forbes Middle East list of the 100 most powerful Arab women in business. The impressive number showcases the School’s abilities to promote and advance business ingenuity among trend-setting women that cast away age-old gender stigmas on a near-daily basis.

Out of the nine women included in the ranking, eight are School alumni and two are SAB members – with Shahira Zeid ’83 doubling as both – that contribute to the School’s strategic vision. Here is a brief rundown of these inspirational women:

Elham Mahfouz ’84:
Number 17 in the Forbes list, Mahfouz is the highest-ranked School of Business alum. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in economics, she has forged an illustriously successful career for herself, currently serving as the CEO of the Commercial Bank of Kuwait (CBK).

Rawan Ahmed Al Said ’88:
Chair of the National Bank of Oman, and Managing Director and CEO of Takaful Oman, Al Said came in at number 28 in the Forbes list. The successful businesswoman graduated from the AUC School of Business with a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1988.

Hania Sadek ’82, ’90:
Not many people embody the values and work ethic embedded into School students as much as this COO of HSBC Bank Egypt. After majoring in economics as an undergraduate, Sadek returned to the School a few years later and obtained a master’s in economics.

Marwa El-Ayouti ’98:
Number 45 on the Forbes list, El-Ayouti seems destined to remain at the forefront of business successes in the foreseeable future. The CFO of Vodafone Egypt has had a fast rise up the corporate ladder since graduating from the School with a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1998.

Hala Fadel:
Fadel is a co-founder and managing partner of tech-focused venture capital firm Leap Ventures. As a SAB member, the Lebanese businesswoman is an important figure in impacting the AUC School of Business’ strategic initiatives.

Maha Heba EnayetAlla ’82:
Success seems to be the name of the game for EnayetAlla since earning a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from the School in 1982. She is currently the head of business and a board member of Banque Misr.

Farida Khamis ’00:
Business inventiveness has been running in Khamis’ blood from a young age. Having obtained a Bachelor of Arts in business administration in 2000, she is currently an executive board member and the vice president of corporate finance in Oriental Weavers.

Shahira Zeid ’83:
The bond between Zeid and the School of Business is a strong one. Along with graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from the School, the vice chair of Maridive Group also contributes to the School’s vision through her role as a SAB member.

Soha El-Turky ’94, ’98:
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and an MBA from the School, El-Turky was ready to take on the world of business. The results have certainly been impressive. Her stellar work ethic currently has her working as the CFO of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) Egypt.
