AUC School of Business and IBDL Launch Their First Joint Program on Pharmaceutical Marketing

The first partnership activity with International Business Driving License (IBDL) was a pharmaceutical marketing boot camp that took place during the period from October 28 till November 1 at the AUC School of Business. The program was attended by 15 participants working in the area of marketing in the pharmaceutical industry. The program was designed and presented with an innovative approach and gave participants the chance to explore strategies of modern marketing; the tools needed to apply them in the workplace and gave insights into the pharmaceutical sector’s national and international marketing framework. Attendees were able to learn how to access the various markets in the sector and were exposed to strategic and operational insights of the industry. This intensive five-day boot camp gave participants the opportunity to understand marketing management processes, and also offered them the tools and skills needed to build on their own career development plans in marketing.

We talked to Amal Attia, one of the boot camp participants and head of the hospital and key account management SANOFI Egypt, who has been working in the field for 21 years now, “I think this program is really interesting because it’s a very good opportunity for us to tackle the marketing perspective of pharmaceuticals. From time to time we need to enrich our project management knowledge with new fresh ideas… It’s a real added value as the interactions with the speakers and other attendees opened up our minds to new ideas, tools, and models.” She continued, “For example, we got introduced to a new simulation tool, its really powerful and advanced, as you put in all the insights and data you have (forecast, objectives, strategy, budget, tactics and what you need to accomplish) and it gives you a mathematically calculated outcome. It gives you a vision of where you are going based on the data you provide; it gives you the complete picture.” She concluded that “The program left us with a broader perspective and a fresher vision.” 

AUC School of Business and IBDL signed a partnership agreement in September 2018 to deliver professional development training programs aimed to qualify the next generation of business pro¬fessionals and help them become business leaders through mastering the internationally recognized standards of the Business Administration Skills (BAS). 

IBDL, established in 2007 is an internationally recognized pioneering foundation that provides certifications in BAS. Their certifications are designed and developed for professionals aiming to develop their qualifications in Business Administration Professionalism with an internationally recognized aptitude. 

“This is our first joint collaboration with IBDL to design and deliver a program in a niche market where we aim to merge academic experience with practical knowledge in the field of pharmaceutical marketing… The program was well implemented and received by the attendees and we are looking forward to more successful collaborations targeting other industries as well,” said Noha Korayem, executive director for business development at the School of Business. She also added that a new joint program titled “African Women Intra-Trade Capacity Building Program” targeting the intra-trade industry in Africa, is scheduled to take place during 25 and 29 November.
