School of Business Becomes First Business School in Middle East and Africa to Join CEMS Network

November 21, 2017

The alliance is an exclusive global-cooperation platform between leading business schools, multinational corporations and NGOs committed to educating future generations of international business leaders and global citizens. The Global Alliance in Management Education, which began in 2007, has grown to include 30 leading business schools, 75 corporate partners and seven social partners from five continents. With the AUC School of Business now onboard, CEMS is truly represented globally in all corners of the world.

“We are delighted by this new partnership with CEMS, an organization with which we share common educational goals and values,” stated Interim Dean of the School of Business, Nizar Becheikh. “Offering the top-ranked CEMS MiM will provide our students with another opportunity to pursue a world-class academic program that is in line with the School’s liberal-arts, experiential-learning and ‘glocalized’ approach to business education. This partnership will concurrently expand CEMS’s footprint to the Middle East and Africa, and offers CEMS global students a unique and exciting transformational immersion experience in Egypt, the cradle of civilizations and the land of the pharaohs.”

CEMS MiM is a one-year, pre-experience, joint-degree program delivered by CEMS Academic members that offers students the opportunity to be educated in a truly multicultural and boundless classroom. In addition to completing a home degree, graduation from CEMS requires students to have a business project, a compulsory international internship and a very good command of two languages in addition to their mother tongue.

“AUC is a fantastic institution with a rich history and strong values that are close to ours: support for a pluralistic world, academic rigor and a track record in excellence,” said Executive Director of CEMS, Roland Seigers. “Incoming CEMS students spending time in Cairo will find one of the most impressive campuses in the world, a young and thriving population and high-level engagement opportunities with Egyptian and international companies.”

Financial Times ranked the CEMS MiM as the fourth-best Master’s in Management program in 2015. Its strength stems from a rigorous academic curriculum as well as a focus on practical business skills, language proficiency and early international experiences. Graduates of the CEMS MiM join an elite community of over 12,000 distinguished alumni representing 91 nationalities and working in over 75 countries.

“The AUC School of Business prides itself on graduating global leaders who are able to implement and adapt ideal practices to their workplace contexts,” enthused Hakim Meshreki, assistant professor of marketing at the School. “Our CEMS-MiM academic program is designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills and hands-on experiences on the challenges and solutions of conducting business in the Middle East within an environment that embraces cultural diversity and collegiality, hence preparing young leaders to confront future challenges.”
